This lecture is about the use of technologies and digital services today, relating critically with the monopoly of large companies which business model is based on data mining. Its rationalized how the business model of companies that offer free services works. Next its discussed the value users' convenience at cost of their privacy.
Its advocated the use of free software alternatives. Its argued why this type of technology is necessary but why it fails in being used for customers in large scale. The lecture concludes with the presentation of the movement that address this issue, proposing attractive alternatives for building software with enough appeal to draw attention from the costumer public in a wider scale.
